esumen
César Chávez, líder sindical y fundador junto con Dolores Huerta, de uno
de los tres movimientos pilares del movimiento chicano, la
UFW
, ha sido
fuente de inspiración por la manera particular de luchar por los derechos
humanos de los trabajadores agrícolas utilizando las armas de la no vio-
lencia. Su ejemplo resulta la contrapartida a otros modos de lucha latinoa-
mericanos, uno de ellos en la propia literatura. La influencia de Chávez se
siente incluso dentro de la literatura infantil y juvenil con
Jesse
, de Gary
Soto.

bstract
César Chávez, a Union leader and founder with Dolores Huerta of the
UFW
, one of the three main pilars where the Chicano Movement stands,
has been a source of inspiration because of his non-violent method to de-
fend the farm workers. His example that has also inspired Children’s Lit-
erature is the other side of the coin compared to others methods in Latin
America. Gary Soto’s
Jesse
is an example.
