EL TEATRO DE FILIACIÓN ANARQUISTA
EN MÉXICO E HISPANOAMÉRICA

esumen
El teatro llamado libertario en Hispanoamérica, fue -a no dudarlo- una de
las experiencias más amplias y diversificadas en la renovación teatral de
buena parte del mundo de habla hispana en la primera mitad del siglo
XX
,
particularmente en los albores del siglo. Una característica propia y co-
mún fue la de estar vinculado con prácticas sociales de reivindicación po-
lítica y de organización gremial. Se trata también de un genuino teatro
“de anticipación social”, que muestra las duras contradicciones de la rea-
lidad social en América Latina y que ofrece un testimonio de primera
mano de la permanencia de una desigualdad humana que el modelo mo-
dernizador de la economía y de los modos de producción en nuestros días
no han hecho otra cosa que agudizar lo que en las primeras décadas del
siglo
XX
los movimientos anarquistas y sus llamados “cuadros artísticos”
habían ya anunciado con una mirada esquemática y un tanto maniquea,
pero a todas luces, con una claridad sorprendente.

bstract
The theater called libertarian in Latin America, was not-a-doubt one of the
largest and most diversified in the theater renovation of much of the
Spanish-speaking world in the first half of the twentieth century, particu-
larly in the early century experiences. A very common feature was to be
linked to social practices of political demand and trade organization. It is
also a genuine theater of “social advance” which shows the harsh contra-
dictions of social reality in Latin America and offering a first-hand account
of the permanence of human inequality that the modernizing model of
the economy and modes of production in our days have done nothing to
aggravate it in the first decades of the twentieth century anarchist move-
ments and their so called “art boxes” had already announced a schemat-
ic and somewhat manichean view, but clearly, with stunning clarity.
